My Asian/K-Beauty Skincare Routine! 9.10.15

Hey everyone!

Here is my evening/morning skincare routine as of today! I hope this will be informative - I delayed getting this out because I really really REALLY wanted to get this right, but I realised that skincare in general is a work in progress and it'll be literally forever until I feel like it's anywhere close to perfect.

My skincare routine does have its merits - I rarely ever break out/get pimples, whenever I do get pimples they're gone within a day (amazing right?), and my face never ever feels oily/my pores never feel clogged because I have SKINCARE that addresses all of it!

Because my skin is combination, I often find myself "feeling for" and just reaching for whatever feels right to my skin. So my skincare routine might seem all over the place, but heck, it does a decent job! I'm also really lazy, so hopefully my post helps you guys out.

This video could have gone on forever, so I tried to only talk about important parts.

But I love talking about skincare - please ask me if you have any questions =)

My take on the multi-step Korean skincare routine...

♥ Put your hair back! ♥

Me bare-faced, in my PJs, with my Etude House Lovely Etti Headband =)

Don't want your hair getting in the way of your skincare!

♥ Get your face CLEAN! ♥

If your face isn't clean, your awesome moisturising products won't make it past all that sebum, old makeup, dirt, skin cells, etc... to get to your actual skin and provide its moisturising effects!
Cleansing is very important to get right because having bad cleansing means your products might not be as effective as they could be!

1. Makeup removal
Straightforward! Use a wipe or micellar water or makeup remover if you're wearing makeup. It makes cleansing easier!

Examples of products: Lancome Sensitive-Eyes Instant Cleanser, Wotnot wipes, Simple wipes, Palmer's Wipes, Neutrogena Wipes, Bioderma Micellar Water, Garnier Micellar Water, you get the point... Baby wipes if you really have nothing else!

2. Double Cleanse (oil, then foam)
You use oil cleanser to get rid of makeup/sunscreen, and then foam cleanser to get rid of the oily feeling the oil cleanser leaves you with =) Or the oily feeling in general!
Sometimes I'll skip oil cleanser and just foam cleanse on days where I haven't used makeup but my face feels gross.

Examples of products: Banila Co Clean It Zero, Etude House Essential Foam, Dermalogica Precleanse, Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel

3. Exfoliate
I only do this once a week, because exfoliating is harsh on the skin. (Literally removing the dead skin cells from your skin! If you use a physical exfoliant, you're using the equivalent of sandpaper.)
I know physical exfoliants are very popular in Western skincare (yes, I'm looking at you St Ives Apricot!), but I strongly suggest chemical ones instead. Your skin will love you for it!

Examples of products: Paula's Choice BHA 2% Skin Perfecting Liquid, Cure Aqua Peeling Gel

Cure Aqua Peeling Gel

♥ ACTIVES ♥

Depending on your skin, you might want to use Vitamin C, BHA, AHA, and prescription medication here if you have a skin condition like eczema for example! I use my Cure Peeling Gel and BHA interchangably, and I don't need AHA or Vitamin C, so I have nothing here. =)

Paula's Choice 2% BHA Skin Perfecting Liquid (baby & mummy :P)

Things like modelling masks, clay masks, CHOCOLATE masks should also be here
... :P

Wonderuci Cacao Brightening Mask

I don't use this too often, but it smells absolutely amazing and makes my skin instantly brighter =D My special occasion mask. It's super thick in texture and is messy to wash off, but just amazing.

♥ MOISTURE! ♥

This is straightforward! Now that your skin is squeaky clean, let's deliver the good stuff!

4. Toner
Preparing your skin for all the good stuff to come =) A mist works fine in toner's place if you're lazy like me! :P
A lot of toners tend to contain alcohols, which you want to avoid since they dry out your skin. This is why I traded out my Etude House Wonder Pore Toner, and have not been too adventurous with toners in general.

Examples of products: Purebess Galactomyces 100%, The Skin House Aloe Water Mist

5. Facial Mask
My favourite part! Facial masks are one-use masks that deliver intense moisture to your skin, as well as other benefits depending on the ingredients =) You leave it on for about 20 minutes, but I like to leave it on until it is coming off/feels dry. There's also masks for the neck area, eye area, lip area... you get the gist!

Because it's so time intensive, I only tend to do this once per week. You can do more or less! =)

I know r/asianbeauty really love looking at lots of masks, so here we go..

My favorite mask is the Sally's Box Hydrogels! I most recently used the Innisfree squeeze mask in Bamboo which my face loved.

6. Essence
The lightest of the trio! (Essence, serum, ampoule)!
In case you haven't noticed, we go in order from most watery to thickest/least watery product! That's the magic of Korean layering =) This gives you the chance to target three different things that you'd like to fix with your face. If that makes sense?
The essence I currently use is a brightening one! Which gives me a more radiant complexion :P

Toosooswong Rosehip Essence
Eon Wheatgerm Brightening Essence

7. Ampoule
The next step, also moisturisey, and does other things! The current ampoule I use has the ingredient propolis, which is for anti-blemish properties!

Beauty Recipe Propolis Ampoule

8. Serum
The next step, also moisturisey, but can do other things. The current serum I use contains the ingredient snail, and is for intense moisture and anti-wrinkle properties. (Prevention is key! :3)

Miss Age Anti-Aging Snail Serum

Western Skincare will use different names that don't say essence/ampoule/serum, so just feel for it by 'heaviness' or 'wateriness'.

Rosehip+ Cold Pressed Rosehip Oil, Lancome Genefique Advanced Youth Concentrate

9. Emulsion
At this stage, your face might feel kind of watery! Emulsion is a lotion, so you're starting to seal in the deal =)

Sana Soy Emulsion,
Etude House Moistfull Collagen Emulsion

10. Cream
At this stage, you're getting bored of me saying everything is heavier and more moisturising, so yeah. That's what cream is! You've probably used a face cream before, without all this other stuff :P

Nuxe Creme Nirvanesque

11. Eye Cream
The eye area is very delicate and needs special care!

Benefit It's Potent! Eye Cream, Indio Eye Rise

I know I have quite a few here, but some are morning (the roller ball ones) and the thicker ones are for the evening routine... And yes, I use all of these interchangably... eek.

12. Spot Treatment
I only ever do this when I have pimples, which is a rare enough occasion that I forgot to mention it in my video. This stuff is AMAZING. Two different friends on two different occasions asked me to help them with pimples, and I passed them a depot of spot cream. This stuff is a MIRACLE WORKER and I don't know of any Western equivalent of this stuff.
The actual solution to pimples - double cleanse and spot treatment. That is all you need =)
Shara Shara Bee Tox Spot Cream

13. Sleeping Pack / "Night Cream"
Seal all that goodness into your skin before a good night's sleep!
I find that using a sleeping pack prevents that feeling in the morning where you wake up and there's still skincare on top of your skin instead of inside. Of course, patting your skin in to make the products absorb is also a thing which you do :P But still! ;-;

Palmer's Night Cream
Kiehls Hydrating Masque
Heart Face Ultra Pore Sleeping Pack

♥ Caring for the rest of your skin  ♥
Stuff like lipcare, neckcare, body lotion, haircare...

This is an overwhelming amount of information, so I'm going to end it here for now =) Let me know if you enjoyed this post/want to see more! I really enjoyed making this!

A fantastic resource on the Korean multi-step routine is this post at fanserviced-b! She's one of my favourite k-beauty bloggers and I definitely recommend checking her out =)

Impressions:

Overall, this box looks good! It is well balanced, containing a little bit of everything (generous big haircare, nice brands for skincare!) Although it's not exciting, it's definitely good value for money.

My only complaint with Marie Claire The Parcel is that there are a range of shipping dates. It kills me to see other people unbox before me :P It takes so much willpower to resist clicking on people's spoilers and reviews!

I can't believe I also forgot to mention that I am most definitely reusing the cardboard box this came in. I'm actually running out of boxes to store my cosmetics in! This is getting out of control! :P

BUUUUT you probably want to know why you want these masks, so let's give you guys some more information~

♥ Lychee Anti-Melasma Mask

"Anti-what?!" You ask.

"Melasma is a patchy brown discoloration of the skin on the face. When it occurs in pregnancy, it's called chloasma." Replies Google. :D
My first thought was to my freckles! I wonder if this product would help?

According to this neat web-graphic, yes!

"What if I don't have any discoloration on my face?"

Well, you can gift it away and your friend will be eternally thankful, but you can still use the cream for a ton of other benefits.

♥ Mangosteen Anti-Acne Mask ♥
Look how pretty and purple it is! Mangosteens aren't mangoes by the way, this totally reminds me of this argument I had a few years ago with a friend of mine.

"What will this AMAZING mask do for me?!" You ask.

"Mangosteens are purple, and I don't use purple ingredients on my face." You retort.

To which I would think you're being ridiculous and unreasonable, but regardless, LOOK AT ALL THESE OTHER FABULOUS INGREDIENTS in this cream that AREN'T PURPLE!

"I don't have melasma or acne, seriously I'm out."

NOPE. I SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST. YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE.

Brad's K Beauty Box - Why you should BEWARE

Hi everyone!

I'm going to mention before I really get into this post that I hesitated a LOT to do this post. I hate controversy/drama, I just want everyone to love everyone and be nice and respectful to each other, etc. Brad has only ever been amazing and lovely to me personally, he is a fantastic person and this is nothing against Brad himself.

Ultimately, I'm making this post because I have two rather glowing reviews of Brad's boxes already uploaded on my channel, and despite those reviews being accurate of my own experiences, other people's experiences have made me wary and I feel like I need to give a bigger picture/more information to my readers so they can make an educated and informed decision before they decide to spend their money on one of these boxes.

Let's get into it.

BEFORE Brad's K Beauty Box:

I first heard of Brad a few weeks into joining this group called "Memebox Addicts Australia." Memebox was an international company based in USA that shipped out amazing Korean/Asianbeauty products with jaw-dropping value. I'm talking like you pay $30 for $200 of products and then you get points and other benefits for your next purchase. It was insane, everyone loved Memebox, and a lot of people used this facebook page to swap their Memebox items they didn't want (called "destashing").
Brad made these destash boxes that everybody loved - they were advertised and sold via the page, and were usually something like $40 for 6 mysterious Korean beauty items. They sold out almost instantly each time - I managed to snatch one and I did an unboxing here.

Girls seriously went crazy over these, and it was a pretty tightknit community. Of course, everyone also encouraged Brad to make his own box so people wouldn't miss out.

THE BEGINNING...

FEBRUARY - The first ever beginning of Brad's .K. Beauty Box was "Brad's Must Haves Box" (which is currently on his website with the shipping date as the August 17 2015, but we'll get back to that later). Payments were made for this box by a lot of people in the group in February, but the post has since been deleted and I can't screenshot and show you. To clarify, many people paid for a $40 box in February, that has had its shipping date changed repeatedly, and has not shipped out yet, despite the website saying August 17 as the shipping date.

(I won this box by helping him name a box in a competition, and he has told me he still wants to honour that,)

Here's the second box Brad released shortly after, since the first one was so popular.

February 6 2015 - Second box posted up and paid for. It cost $35 in the group.

A spoiler he posted.

February 20 - he finally releases a shipping commence date.

March 14, he has an issue with the packaging, but apparently he has everything else.

March 21 - he has "everything arrived"...

But for two months, no one receives anything...

May 26, a large uproar was finally caused because people were beginning to express they were fed up.

The post has since been deleted, but amongst the comments were people that wanted refunds or were feeling like they had been cheated.

In the aftermath, Brad makes his own group to separate from this group to post updates.

May 31 - Him giving a timeframe of 15-26th June in shipping out the same box in his own group. He also offers refund for those who wanted one.

June 20 -Him saying it will ship out on June 22 in the original Memebox Addicts group.

June 26th - Me as well as a few other members receive the "My Cute Box" that was released through his website. You can see the unboxing here. Funnily enough, despite the long wait for boxes, everyone's "My Cute Box" arrives in a bag. Some of these people had also ordered a Cleanse Tone Mask box, but didn't get one with their My Cute Box. Still no sign of the Cleanse Tone Mask Box.

June 29 - Brad claiming that some people have already received the CTM box, yet there are no unboxings whatsoever.
Some people point this out, and are removed from the group.

July 31 - The first unboxing of the Cleanse Tone Mask Box appears. It doesn't contain the spoiler item, but everyone overlooks it.

August 21 - People still complaining they hadn't received a Cleanse Tone Mask Box. Or a refund.

CURRENT DAY - SEPTEMBER 3

This brings me to current day. I ordered "Mask Only With Brad" on July 6. It can be seen on the website here with the shipping date as 13th July, 2015. It is September 3, and no sign of any tracking or package or any message from Brad.

Similarly, Brad's Must Haves, which most people must have paid for back in February, has not shipped out either, despite the shipping date being pushed back further and further. Box link here.

Other boxes who have seen no mention of shipping, tracking or unboxing despite shipping dates having past:
Fruit and Veg (13 July)
Around the World (17 August)
Brad's White Knight (1 September)

Brad's Spa and Retreat does not even have a predicted shipping date listed. here

The most worrying thing throughout all of this is lack of communication. Rather than giving any real reason to why there have been delays, he either doesn't say anything, pushes the shipping date back, and even removes and blocks those who don't talk glowingly of his company.

I do believe Brad is a great person, but judging from the events I have seen surrounding Brad's company, I am hesitant to give him any more money for any more of his boxes. Someone can be a good person, but not a good businessman or have a good grasp of the responsibilities it may take to run a business.

It's with a really heavy heart that I post this, because I do really like Brad. But I do think that everyone also deserves to know what has been happening, and I owe it to you guys since I do have good experiences posted up via unboxings - here are the bad ones.

Unsent boxes, little communication, and a lot of excuses.

Dear Brad,
If you are reading this, it is not too late to get your act together. Please understand I am not writing this post out of anything other than wish for you to improve and for you and your brand to grow and learn from feedback. A business cannot exist without the faith of their paying and loyal customers, and I do think the good faith and trust that everyone has put in you has been gradually and definitely wearing thin. I understand that managing and owning a business must be a difficult job, but please communicate honestly with us. You can definitely still fix this, but without seeing any effort or communication from you, and being continuously shown excuses makes it very difficult for us to want to support you and your business.

I hope this post was informative and please do leave comments because this is my first time doing a post like this. I tried to approach the matter delicately and professionally, but am definitely keen to hear all your feedback on posts like this. I really just want my blog to spread love and good stuff, but as well as information.

Also, if you want to find an alternative to Brad's K Beauty Box that is doing really well and reliable, check out K Beauty by K! She's amazing and ships out really fast, I've never had a problem with her and there are plenty of glowing reviews about her.

--SEPTEMBER 7 UPDATE--
The website has gone DOWN and Brad had blocked me and other loyal supporters of his brand.
If you've made a purchase with him, I highly recommend going to your bank and requesting a chargeback.

Also, EMAIL HIM AT bradskbeautybox@gmail.com. But I would still recommend going for that chargeback as soon as possible.

If you need any assistance doing this, please feel free to message me and I'll do my best to help you.

-- SEPTEMBER 8 UPDATE --

I submitted my chargeback yesterday, and upon emailing him, he told me I would receive a refund within 10 business days.

I did quite a bit of snooping around, and discovered that if he does not refund before this chargeback is successful, then he loses the refund money AND must pay an additional fee of $15. So if you submit a chargeback, it is in his best interest to cut his losses and refund you, or he will lose more money and you will still get your money back. So please chargeback and email him. Stripe instantly notifies him when a chargeback is submitted, so it will rush him to refund you.

This morning, I receive an official email from Stripe saying that the process for a refund for one of my boxes ($30)  has been started.

(The email address ended in @stripe.com, important to check this in case you suspect it's a fake email!)

However, I have another box that he hasn't submitted a refund for. He claims he can only submit one refund at a time. I have emailed Stripe customer service (they don't have a phone number) to verify whether this is true.

Several other people I know who have submitted chargebacks have also received similarly emails, but only for one box out of many.

If you have submitted a chargeback and not received an email like this within 24 hours, please do update us, we need all the information we can get in a situation like this!

-- SEPTEMBER 9 UPDATE --

After asking around, some people did receive multiple refunds a time, so he was caught out on the lie. After I emailed him again mentioning this, I got another email from Stripe soon after about the start of my refund for the other box I had purchased.

Be assertive in your emails and don't just take his word on it - make sure you receive an email from STRIPE and if you don't or if Brad refuses, GO TO YOUR BANK AND MAKE A CHARGEBACK.

I cannot emphasise the importance of charging back enough.

I don't know how chargeback works in countries out of Australia, but  generally calling your bank and telling them your situation (making it clear you used your bank account to pay, having the date and amount of transaction) should allow you to start a chargeback, or at least your bank CS can provide you with more options.

-- SEPTEMBER 10 UPDATE --

BRAD IS SENDING FAKE WESTPAC EMAILS.

I REPEAT - BRAD IS SENDING FAKE WESTPAC 'REFUND CONFIRMATION' EMAILS.

I did not personally receive one, but two people have received them and made phone calls to Westpac to verify their legitimacy - THEY ARE FAKE. DON'T FALL FOR THIS STUFF.

Always double check and triple check the sender of an email address and use google to search up and verify the address is legit! For example, @hotmail.com is a hotmail email, @web9.hotmail.com is no longer a hotmail domain email. If there's any extras after the @ sign, it's NOT a legitimate email. Make sure it's in the field where the legitimate email sendee is, not just written there. This differs from email provider to email provider - I can't make a comprehensive guide at the moment, but please do your research on this and BE VIGILANT AND MINDFUL.

If you are even the tiniest bit in doubt, CALL UP YOUR BANK.

-- September 12 Update--

I got my refund funds in my bank today =)

Just because I got my refunds, doesn't mean you will necessarily get yours or Brad won't try to scam you/send you fake refund emails. So be vigilant. My message is the same - chargeback and send emails until you see funds in your account!

PoP Box August 2015 Unboxing & Review - LAUNCH BOX!

Hey everyone!

Long time no unbox!

Today I'm here with a BRAND NEW unboxing of a BRAND NEW company! This is the first ever box from PoP box :D
Here's what was inside!

The Contents ♥

1. Candle from Candle Jewels, with a range of many delicious scents  (RRP $12 for six sample cups, so $2. here

Silly me thought it was a full sized jewellery candle from the spoiler post! I actually didn't see the post from the sneak peek on their official page, but on a different subscription box group. I've since tried to find the post and I cannot. So I can't tell if they actually originally guaranteed a full size candle and deleted the post, or if I didnt read it properly. Oh well.
I also struggled to find the website to the "Candle Jewels", as the information card didn't provide any links to their social media. Would probably be a good idea in future!

2. Beauty Blender tool (color selected randomly) ♥ (RRP $1 here

Arghhh. Sorry, I'm not at all a fan of these eBay beauty blenders. I tried to like the one I already have but I don't - it absorbs so much product and although the application looks okay, they're just not gentle on the skin and I'd prefer to use a brush or my hands over one of these. + the gross bug video...

3. Innisfree - Korean Facial Mask Sheet ♥ (RRP $1.74 here)

YESSSSS! Give me all the masks! Innisfree! It's really nice to see a Korean Beauty item in here! I didn't expect it at all :D I'll definitely use this - everyone loves a mask :D

4. Assortment of Rings ♥ (RRP $1.10 for all five in a set here)

Ahh, they're nice rings, I'm just disappointed because I have so many of these kinds of rings from eBay. I most likely won't wear them, but they're nice to have.

5. Me Now - Brow Pencil and Brush ♥ (RRP $0.70 here )

After being unable to find this item on eBay, my next thought was AliExpress. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against buying off eBay and Aliexpress at all - the product seems nice and very pigmented, and my current eyebrow pencil was $1 from ebay and looks extremely adorable too! Just very disappointing value in a $30 box I suppose.

6. Handmade Soap - Lil Creations by Rach ♥ (RRP $6 for 150g... so $3? here )

Not sure how to price this one! I don't have a scale to weigh this soap, but it does look thinner than the one that retails for $6. I'll give the benefit of the doubt and say it's about half that, so $3.

This soap smells AMAZING! Watermelon lemonade, just my cup of tea. It's a beautiful soap and I think this is more what subscrption boxes should be about - finding and discovering new brands and stores to fall in love with :D

7. Maybelline - Colour Show Nail Polish  (RRP $5.95 here)

The colour is so beautiful! I can't wait to try it out on my nails. I haven't had a go with Maybelline's Color Show Formula despite owning a few already.

8. ELF - All over colour stick (colour selected at random) (RRP $3 here )

I love ELF! I got a shade pretty close to my skin tone (thank gosh), so I'm glad to be able to use this. I guess for a small company I would have expected them to ask for shade information or allow a colour choice, since it's not like it's too much of a hassle to order specific colours for a few people as opposed to a large customer base.

Value in TOTAL?

$18.54. Shipping would have been another $8.

My Overall Thoughts?

I do think it's quite disappointing that for $35, the most expensive item in the box was a Maybelline nail polish worth $6. I do have a high standard for my boxes though, but I don't think I'll be buying a PoP box again any time soon unless I see some improvements from other people's unboxings.

PoP box in general seems to lack a general aim or focus - looking at their website, I don't see any particular aim like other boxes. Most subscription boxes do aim to allow their customers to discover new brands and products they would not have tried otherwise, which I don't feel like is really the aim of this particular box.

HOWEVER, it still is a decent selection of items, and it is only the launch box - there is definitely room for improvement but the box did ship out when it was supposed to, there was tracking provided, and I know that there will people who will still be genuinely happy with this box and happy to discover these items they would not have been able to try otherwise.

I think the box would also be well-presented with the cute purple thingies and the nice box with window idea.

As always, my unboxing video~

All information correct as of 11/8/2015 and of course this is all based on my experiences as well as reading everyone else's!

Sasa Haul 2015! ♥ {My Beauty Diary, Koji, Banila Co, Fairy Drops, more!}

Hi everyone!

My Sasa package arrived!

I ordered on July 27, got my dispatch notification on July 29, and it arrived to me safely in Australia on August 5th. Pretty quick - it took nine days from ordering!

I had been eyeing some Sasa products when a kind AB soul (u/MsMacquarie) posted a PSA on the asianbeauty subreddit about the MBD sale, and I knew I had to get on it!

Without further ado, here's what I got...

♥ The Contents!

11. Belle madame Konjac Sponge (round-shape); $13.50
12. Bawang Anti-Dandruff Shampoo (400ml) $7.90 (it was in different packaging so it missed the picture!.. the link is gone for some reason)

Free samples:
♥ SUISSE PROGRAMME Platinum Precious Luxury Up-lift Serum (3ml)
♥ SUISSE PROGRAMME CELLULAR Aqua Night Cream (2ml)

Altogether: $134.30 with free shipping!

I'm really happy I managed to get a lot of items I've been having my eye on - I've been lusting over Fairy Drops mascara since EVER, I've heard such great things about the Konjac sponge, and finally busting out my small sample of the Banila Co Clean It Zero was seriously one of the best skincare decisions I've ever made.

Everything was well-wrapped, shipping was fast, and the prices were very affordable! :D

♥ For my full impressions on my haul, I made a video!

(My university semester has started, and it's faster than typing a lot of text :P)

If you want a more in-depth review on any of the products, please let me know because I tend to be lazy and just use them and be happy with them XD

Thanks for reading/watching guys and stay beeeeautiful xxx
