=_= really ?! re: michelle's first ever jewellery line

okay so, i've never really been that big of a fan of michelle phan right

i pretty much discovered her through the bubzbeauty vs michelle phan wars in the comments of bubzbeauty videos

i respect that michelle phan is good with makeup etc etc, and she doesn't seem like a bad person really, (charity channel, such and such...) - i probably learnt stuff from her videos

i unsubbed her because i lost interest. her videos were getting too repetitive. it wasn't because i especially disliked her or anything at the time.

i'm an avid follower of other beauty/fashion bloggers though, and one of those is xiaxue. it led to a whole stalking of the dawnyang vs xiaxue drama, which led to me finding out about arissa cheo (the socialite dawn yang tries so hard to be like), which led to me finding about phan too trying too hard to be like arissa.

no big deal - arissa cheo is gorgeous, has style, is rich and famous... she's everything most girls want to be! that's not so much of a reason to dislike michelle phan right?

that is until... she releases this jewellery line.

WHOA HOLD THERE. HOLDDDD UP.

i have nothing against jewellery, lines, jewellery lines, people wanting to make jewellery lines - that is not the issue okay?! i know people are against this because of making money etc etc - that's not really it! i mean like, she's famous, duh she's going to make money off it.

the main thing i have against this is the whole concept of this.

yes, churches are pretty, the symbolisms are pretty - stuff like overlapping circles probably get incorporated into jewellery pieces by accident all the time

you dont need to advertise the pieces as 'inspired by stain glass windows of the church' - there are stain glass windows /everywhere/

she has to realise that not only as a marketing thing does this not work (since the amount of non-Christians etc to be detered )... as a Christian, i find it pretty insulting. i don't think i know of any Christians that would find this kind of market appealing at all - it's like the cross rings trend and such. making the cross a fashion icon - i doubt any Christians were in support of /that/ - i don't get why she's trying to follow suit on a basically dead trend.

one line that really ticked me off is at 1:18 - 'in the book of Genesis, Eden is described as a beautiful garden where Adam and Eve first lived. Eden is /not/ a figment of imagination... Ever Eden is a jewellery line.'

OKAY, WHOA.

so michelle phan fans are saying OMGG WHY IS IT BAD - SHE'S BEEN A CHRISTIAN ALL HER LIFE etc etc - right there she's implying that the Garden of Eden never existed? that somehow, it's popular Christian belief that the Garden of Eden never existed? but oh, we are /wrong/ - EDEN IS HER JEWELLERY LINE?

how is this not wrong on so many levels?!

it is downright insulting and i dont see how people can be in support of this, or what she was thinking when she came up with this

maybe she wants a whole controversy on it to boost its widespreadness - if that's the route she's going down, then good for her, it's working on me

3:05 - 'i guess in a way, i should thank Saint Joan of Arc and all of you for inspiring me to believe in myself, and to fight for what i love...'

you know what, i like the knight collection. the concept was sounding good until you brought joan of arc into it. you didn't need to link it to joan of arc. it was unnecessary, forced, etc.

joan of arc didnt inspire her - she just needed something to talk about as she showed herself off=_=

sorry to return to blogging on such a negative note - i couldn't help but rant when i saw this video though! i guess by coincidence i got reminded this blog existed - oops :P

in the case rabid michelle phan fans find this... errr, hi, have fun trying to insult me calling me a jealous bitch etc...

xoxo

  1. Her narcissism is showing so much in that video *facepalm*

I'm neutral about her and I agree with her being repetitive :)

But you're entitled to your own opinion and if people attack you for it, I've lost faith in humanity. lol.

  2. I'm also neutral about her, but this concept is insulting.
I can't imagine that she tries to make money with using religion (people's hopes and believes)

    I support your opinion!^-^/
